Is ECUGRIN free?−
Yes. ECUGRIN is and will remain completely free. There are no planned licenses or paid subscriptions. The only possible future way to support the project is an optional Buy Me a Coffee page.
Does the application require internet access?+
Yes. The application works through an API, so an active internet connection is required for server and database functionality.
Do I have to upload my file to download a Matcher result?+
If you want to download a file found through the Matcher, you must first consent to uploading your analyzed file to the server. Files downloaded through File Search do not require this contribution.
Will ECUGRIN continue to be developed?+
Yes. The project is continuously being expanded. Future updates are planned to add more database files, improve organization, search and the overall application experience.
How long is the service planned to be maintained?+
Technical support and service maintenance are currently planned for at least 2027, depending on community usage and the development of the project.
Does ECUGRIN contain tracking software?+
ECUGRIN is intended to be free of viruses, malware and tracking software. The project is built independently by a car enthusiast for other automotive enthusiasts.
Can I blindly trust a matched file?+
No. Always manually verify every file before use. ECUGRIN cannot guarantee that a matched file is correct for a specific ECU and is not responsible for application errors, incorrect matches or incorrectly selected files.
